Being a Delaware senior photographer that photographs primarily graduating University Of Delaware seniors, Kennedi's session. was a wonderful change of pace. We've known Kennedi for quite some time. We actually photographed her engagement session with her fiancee' Trevon at the wonderful Longwood Gardens last year. You can find that blog post here. So when Kennedi reached out to us and asked if we would capture her senior portraits at Delaware State University, we couldn't have been happier. Kennedi showed out as she always does with her bright colored sweater and white skirt. We took warm-up breaks because it was a very brisk 40 degrees with a good wind to go with it, but Kennedi was an all-star through her senior portrait photo session at Delaware State University.
Our session began at 8am this morning, so along with the chilly weather the sun was high, and bright. We used the sun to our advantage during Kennedi's senior photography session. Not only did we find soft light once we ventured further into the courtyards at Delaware State University, but we also dealt with the sun head on. This is a challenge for some photographers because the light from the sun is very harsh and bright. If you aren't careful, its possible to have squinting or even sun spots in your senior photos! Quite a few times we had to ask Kennedi to move her position slightly so we were able to get the right amount of soft flattering light on her face and show off her beautiful smile during her senior portraits at Delaware State University.
Kennedi was joined by her puppy Ace, who, according to the dog shirt he wore "Mom studied & I slept". Lauren and I thought that was adorable and really enjoyed hanging out with Kennedi's puppy Ace. Kennedi's mom also accompanied her to the senior photography session. Mom showed Kennedi support and how proud she was of her accomplishments. As Kennedi's senior photo session at Delaware State University came to a close, we opted to do a celebration set with the obligatory champagne spray. This set is easily some of the best senior celebration photos we've taken. Finally, we finished off Kennedi's senior portraits with some photos by the flags at the entrance of Delaware State University. We embraced the hard light of the sun, and made it into a star just like the star she is! Kennedi will be tying the knot with Trevon this spring at their destination wedding in Mexico. If that isn't enough, she's keeping the positive momentum going by returning to school this fall at the University Of Delaware for Neuroscience to study the brain.
