Kristen + Mat’s Wedding at Mendenhall Inn | A Beautiful February Celebration in Chadds Ford, PA
There is something uniquely beautiful about a late winter wedding. The air feels still and meaningful, the light has a softness to it, and every warm laugh, every embrace, and every little detail seems to stand out just a little more. Kristen and Mat’s wedding on February 28, 2026, at Mendenhall Inn was exactly that kind of day—romantic, joyful, elegant, and full of the kind of genuine emotion that reminds you why wedding days matter so much.
From the moment the day began, it was clear this celebration was going to be something special. Kristen and Mat were surrounded by incredible people from start to finish, and the love in every room was impossible to miss. There was excitement, there were happy tears, there was so much laughter, and above all, there was that unmistakable feeling that everyone present knew they were witnessing something truly meaningful.
As wedding photographers, there are some days that stay with you long after the last image is delivered. This was one of those days. Kristen and Mat’s wedding at Mendenhall Inn had all the ingredients of an unforgettable celebration: a beautiful couple, amazing family and friends, thoughtful details, a timeless venue, and a reception space that felt brand new in the best possible way. With The Gold Ballroom recently remodeled, we were honored to be among the first photographers to capture a wedding in the newly refreshed space. It was stunning, elegant, and such a perfect setting for a celebration this heartfelt.
A Beautiful Start to the Day at Mendenhall Inn
The wedding day began inside the beautiful suites at Mendenhall Inn, where both Kristen and Mat spent the morning getting ready with their favorite people. One of the things that makes a wedding day flow so well is when everything feels convenient, comfortable, and intentional. Having the bridal party and groom’s party able to get ready right onsite at Mendenhall Inn helped create such a relaxed and joyful atmosphere from the beginning.
Kristen spent the morning in the luxurious bridal suite with her girls, and it was the kind of space that instantly set the tone for the day. There was music playing, dresses hanging, makeup brushes spread across countertops, hairspray in the air, and the sound of best friends talking, laughing, and helping one another through all those small but meaningful moments that happen before the ceremony. The bridal suite at Mendenhall Inn offered the perfect backdrop for these memories—elegant, polished, and full of natural charm.
Kristen was radiant. Even before she was fully dressed, there was such a calm excitement about her. You could see how ready she was for this day. Not rushed, not overwhelmed—just fully present. There is something so beautiful about a bride who is able to soak in every moment, and Kristen did exactly that. She took in the room, the people, the energy, and the anticipation of what was to come. When it came time to step into her gown from Claires Fashion, the room shifted in the way it always does when everyone realizes the day is truly here.
Her girls were all smiles as they helped with the final touches, and it was one of those wedding mornings where the emotion seemed to come in waves. There were quiet moments, then laughter, then another pause where everyone just took in how beautiful everything was. Kristen looked incredible, and the hair and makeup team absolutely brought her vision to life. Alyson Valenti styled her hair beautifully, and Stephanie Savage created a makeup look that felt timeless, polished, and perfect for the elegance of a wedding at Mendenhall Inn.
Meanwhile, Mat got ready with the guys inside the executive suite, and the energy there was equally memorable, just in a different way. There was plenty of joking around, laughter, and that classic groom-and-groomsmen dynamic that brings so much personality to a wedding day. But underneath all of that, there was real excitement. Mat was clearly ready to marry Kristen, and even in the lighter moments, you could tell how much this day meant to him.
One of the things we loved most about Kristen and Mat’s wedding at Mendenhall Inn was how balanced the day felt. There was elegance, but there was also fun. There was emotion, but there was also ease. No part of the day felt overly staged or forced. It felt like them. That authenticity came through in every part of the story.
The Energy of a Wedding Day Surrounded by Great People
If there is one thing that stood out from the very beginning of Kristen and Mat’s wedding, it was the people. Some weddings are beautiful because of the details. Some are memorable because of the timeline or the venue. And some are unforgettable because of the atmosphere the guests create. This was one of those weddings.
From getting ready through the reception, it was such a good time with some of the greatest people. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there. There was so much support, so much warmth, and so many moments of real connection throughout the day. You could feel the love that surrounded Kristen and Mat, and that kind of environment changes everything. It makes the day feel bigger than just a schedule of events. It turns it into a true celebration.
That is one of the reasons weddings at Mendenhall Inn photograph so beautifully. The venue itself is elegant and full of character, but when you combine that with a couple like Kristen and Mat—people who are deeply loved by the friends and family around them—you end up with a wedding story that feels incredibly rich and meaningful. Every candid interaction mattered. Every smile felt real. Every hug had history behind it.
A Meaningful Wedding at Mendenhall Inn
There is a reason so many couples are drawn to Mendenhall Inn for their wedding day. The venue has a timeless feel to it. It is refined without being stiff, elegant without feeling distant, and classic in a way that gives couples room to make the day their own. Kristen and Mat’s wedding was a perfect example of that.
Their day felt elevated and beautiful, but it also felt personal. From the beginning, the celebration reflected who they are and the people they love. The setting at Mendenhall Inn gave everything a polished, romantic backdrop, but the heart of the day was always the connection between the couple and everyone around them.
Weddings like this are such a reminder that the best celebrations are not built on trends. They are built on presence, intention, and emotion. Kristen and Mat created that kind of day from beginning to end.
Portraits on the Train Tracks
Of course, when it came time for bridal portraits, we had to make time for the obligatory portraits on the train tracks. Some locations just have that timeless wedding-day appeal, and for Kristen and Mat, it was the perfect choice. There is something about train track portraits that adds a little edge and texture to a wedding gallery while still feeling classic and romantic. It gave us a beautiful contrast to the elegance of Mendenhall Inn, and it fit so naturally into their day.
These portraits ended up being some of our favorites because they captured so much of who Kristen and Mat are together. They were relaxed, happy, and completely locked into one another. There was no need to manufacture emotion. It was already there. The way Mat looked at Kristen, the way she smiled back at him, the way they naturally leaned into each other—it all came so easily.
That is the magic of wedding portraits when a couple is fully present. It is never just about standing in a pretty place. It is about creating space for them to breathe, connect, and remember what the day is really about. The train tracks gave us that moment. It was quiet in the best way, and it allowed Kristen and Mat to step away from the movement of the day for just a little bit and simply be together.
When you pair those portraits with the sophistication of Mendenhall Inn, the full wedding gallery tells such a complete story. You have the soft elegance of the venue, the energy of the celebration, and then these portraits that feel romantic, grounded, and a little cinematic all at once.
One of the First Weddings in the Newly Remodeled Gold Ballroom
One of the most exciting parts of Kristen and Mat’s wedding at Mendenhall Inn was getting to photograph the reception inside the recently remodeled Gold Ballroom. We were honored to be one of the first photographers to document a wedding in this updated space, and it truly was beautiful.
The newly refreshed Gold Ballroom brought such a polished, elegant energy to the reception. It felt classic while also feeling new, and it was easy to see how thoughtfully the space had been updated. For couples considering Mendenhall Inn as a wedding venue, the ballroom is absolutely one of the standout features. It has the kind of atmosphere that feels instantly celebratory, the kind of room that elevates the entire evening the moment guests walk in.
As photographers, we notice how a space feels just as much as how it looks. The remodeled Gold Ballroom at Mendenhall Inn felt warm, welcoming, and refined. It gave the reception a sense of grandeur without losing the intimacy that makes a wedding feel personal. That balance is hard to achieve, but this space did it beautifully.
When Kristen and Mat entered the ballroom, the excitement in the room was immediate. Everyone was ready to celebrate them. The energy carried all the way through the reception, and the ballroom provided the perfect setting for every part of it—introductions, speeches, laughter at the tables, dancing, and all the in-between moments that make a wedding reception unforgettable.
A Reception Full of Joy
From the moment the reception began, the room felt alive. Weddings are never just about beautiful decor or a gorgeous venue—though Kristen and Mat absolutely had both at Mendenhall Inn. What truly makes a reception memorable is the feeling in the room, and this one was full of joy.
There was so much laughter throughout the evening. Guests were engaged, present, and genuinely invested in celebrating Kristen and Mat. You could tell that this was not just a wedding where people showed up out of obligation. They were there because they cared deeply, and that love came through again and again all night long.
The speeches were emotional and heartfelt, the dance floor energy was strong, and every part of the evening seemed to unfold with so much natural happiness. There is something really beautiful about a wedding reception that never feels forced—where people are not trying to create a good time because the good time is already there. That was the case here.
The newly remodeled Gold Ballroom at Mendenhall Inn was the perfect setting for it all. The room looked beautiful in photographs, but more importantly, it held the celebration so well. It felt elegant, warm, and festive all at once.
Thoughtful Vendor Team
Kristen and Mat also had an amazing team of vendors who helped bring their vision to life. A wedding day always runs better when talented professionals are involved, and their vendor team contributed so much to the overall beauty and success of the celebration at Mendenhall Inn
The venue, of course, was Mendenhall Inn, and it provided such a gorgeous setting from start to finish.
Their Event Coordinator, Gianna Angeline, helped keep everything moving smoothly and made sure the day came together beautifully. Having a strong coordinator is one of the best investments a couple can make, and it made such a difference in how seamless the day felt.
Kristen wore a beautiful gown from Claires Fashion, which suited the elegance of the day perfectly.
Her hair was styled by Alyson Valenti, and her makeup was done by Stephanie Savage. Together, they created a bridal look that was polished, romantic, and timeless—exactly the kind of look that photographs beautifully in a venue like Mendenhall Inn.
The cake by The Masters Baker was another lovely part of the day, adding to the overall celebration and detail of the reception.
The DJ Todd Frederick of SilverSound was an amazing MC and kept the party going all night long.
And for a unique touch that guests absolutely loved, cigars were provided by The Cigar Rolling Lounge, which added a memorable and interactive element to the evening.
When all of these pieces come together in one place, it helps create a wedding day that feels complete, thoughtful, and full of personality. Kristen and Mat’s wedding at Mendenhall Inn was exactly that.

Kristen + Mat
At the center of all of this, of course, were Kristen and Mat themselves.
They are the kind of couple who make a wedding day feel easy to photograph because there is so much genuine affection between them. Nothing felt performative. Nothing felt overdone. The way they looked at each other, laughed together, and moved through the day side by side made it clear that this celebration was built on something real and lasting.
There was such a steadiness between them. Even with all the excitement of the day, they seemed anchored by one another. That kind of connection is always beautiful to witness, and it was woven into every part of their wedding at Mendenhall Inn.
Some couples bring a kind of spark that lights up a room. Others bring a sense of calm that draws people in. Kristen and Mat somehow had both. Their wedding day was joyful and vibrant, but underneath all of that was a deep sense of peace—the kind that comes from two people who know they are exactly where they are meant to be.
