UGH! How about that sunset!!? My daughter has been doing cheerleading for a number of years. I would go to her cheer competitions and take pictures of her and her team. I've been in the photography community meeting and working with numerous photographers for some time as well. I met a young lady by the name of Taylor McCarthy, who also is a photographer. Turns out her sister Kasey also is a cheerleader, and Taylor also would go to her competitions and take pictures. That's how we connected. Taylor and I would see each other at competitions or around when we were shooting in the same area, or in our community facebook groups. Taylor is an amazing photographer, please check out her work here: Tay McCarthy Photography

Most photographers will tell you about "Photography kid syndrome" which is basically they don't want their pictures taken at all from you lol. This is why even senior photographers often hire other photographers for photography and plus it's just about the experience. I know as a senior photographer, I've hired other photographers because I personally loved their work and everyone has their own art;

When Kasey arrived with her wonderful mom Jen for her senior portrait session, we started with the formal photos.

I simply cannot get over how gorgeous Kasey is! She will be a senior at First State Military Academy. She is a cheerleader captain and is also very active on social media! She was even giving us tips on taking BTS. If you head over to instagram, you'll find a reel of me tripping during her senior session. Try not to laugh too hard, despite having a camera in my hand I am pretty clumsy haha.

As the sun was coming down we asked Kasey to do some serious faces as well that way she had some variety in her senior portraits. I think you'll agree that the sunset is gorgeous, and Kasey is even more-so. Being a Delaware senior photographer, I understand there are seniors who enjoy having the basic run of the mill senior portraits for the yearbook. When Kasey came to us, she expressed she wanted a variety of looks. This is why we use off-camera flash! Everyone has a cellphone with a camera these days. While a phone camera does ok, it will never be able to create the images taken with a DSLR or mirrorless camera especially when you combine that with off camera flash. These are some of Kasey's favorite images from her senior session in Lewes.

When the sunset set fully, the amount of color in the sky was breathtaking. Please join us in congratulating Kasey on her senior year at First State Military Academy! Would you like to schedule your own Delaware senior portraits? Use the contact form below to get in touch!
